March 27, 2020

Dear friends,

We pray that your, your family and loved ones are well in this unusual time.

Much has changed around Holy Spirit, especially how we gather and how we worship. We are trying new ways to connect with you through YouTube and ZOOM, but you may still connect with us through email and the phone! If you need help to use ZOOM, please call and we can walk you through it.

When connecting with us on YouTube, be sure to look for the account with our logo (looks like our dove.)

We're open to your suggestions and feedback on the ZOOM meetings/content/time. Just let us know what is helpful to you.

Currently, we are anticipating that worship services and all church activities will be cancelled at least until the end of April. By such measures we hope to demonstrate love for our church family.

We recognize and lament this current situation. It is stressful and grievous to us all. May our prayers be with all those who are affected by this pandemic, including our government, medical leaders, first responders, those whose employment has been affected, those who are most vulnerable to infection, those who are ill and those who have died. May our prayers unite us in a common spirit of love and compassion.

We appreciate the continued support of our ministry together. Your prayers and offerings make a difference in the lives of many; especially as now we are seeing an increased demand on our Parish Pantry. Please call the office to begin or change PAR amounts. Offerings may be mailed or dropped off weekdays between 10 AM - 12 noon. In addition, offerings may be made through Canadahelps.org.

If you need assistance in may way, please contact the office. We are happy to help you get connected to resources, chat with you, and certainly to pray with you!

Peace,

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Trish Schmermund pastortrish@holyspiritlutheran.ca

Pastor Lindsey Jorgensen-Skakum pastorlindsey@holyspiritlutheran.ca

Welcome to Holy Spirit Lutheran Church

In this place you feel the full, liberating embrace of Christ’s love and you are inspired to be the best version of yourself and share Christ’s love with everyone you meet.

All are welcome in this church, and all means all.

You are welcome regardless of your country of origin or ancestry.
You are welcome regardless of whether you are one day, 10 years, or 100 years old; whether you are male, female or transgendered; whether you are a new or lifelong Christian, of another faith, agnostic, atheist, or have never set foot in a place of worship.
All are welcome here.
You are welcome regardless of whether you are single, married, divorced, separated, widowed or partnered, whether you are straight, gay, lesbian or bisexual; whether you are politically active, apolitical or indifferent; whether you own your home, rent, live with your parents, or are homeless; whether you are mentally, physically, or not noticeably challenged or gifted.
All are welcome here.
This church is committed to being a loving and welcoming Christ- centered community of faith. Therefore, in faithfulness to the Gospel, in reflection of our Lutheran heritage, and in honour of our shared baptismal covenant, we promise to seek ways to enter into shared ministry with all who would seek God here.

"There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male or female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus."  Galatians 3:28 (NRSV)
