Rev. Trish Schmermund

Rev. Trish Schmermund

Pastor

Holy Spirit was grateful to welcome Pastor Trish and her husband Ken in August 2012 after previously serving congregations in Leduc and Edson, Alberta. Over 11 years of service here, she has seen a lot of change both at Holy Spirit and in the church at large. She attended the University of Alberta (BSc in Agriculture) and completed theological studies at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Saskatoon (MDiv.).

Pastor Trish has served in many roles at all levels of the church and currently volunteers on the National Court of Adjudication. "Volunteering in the wider church helps to shape ministry at the ground level, it enables us to see God at work in many ways." she says. She remembers coming to her first worship service here, where the community included a wide diversity of peoples - and knew Holy Spirit was the right fit.

"God is about love. Always love. It sounds so simple and yet, if you are at all awake in this world, you will know that we obviously have a lot to learn! Keep learning, exploring, discovering all that life has to offer, because all of life is a gift from God. Take a chance and look for where God is already at work in the world." Relying on over 20 years of experience in ministry, Pastor Trish calls us to remain hopeful for the future!

If she's not at church you might find her in the backyard garden, on the golf course or possibly scooting around town on her motorcycle!
